Lancaster Motorplex, known as “The Little Track with Big Action,” was founded in 1959 just east of Buffalo, New York, by a group of local racing enthusiasts who sought to create a community hub for motorsport excitement. Originally called Lancaster National Speedway, the track began as a dirt oval before being converted to asphalt in the mid-1960s, marking its rise as a premier racing venue in the Northeast. Over the decades, facility upgrades such as improved seating, lighting, and pit areas enhanced the experience for both racers and fans. The Motorplex became a proving ground for local and national racing talent, hosting memorable stock car and drag racing events, including the renowned annual U.S. Open. For more than 60 years, Lancaster has remained a cornerstone of community spirit—supporting local businesses, charities, and family traditions rooted in racing. Today, with modern technology and sustainability efforts, Lancaster Motorplex continues to honor its rich legacy while driving full speed into the future.
